Incredible volume and low bass response for OQO umpc.

Incredible volume and low bass response for OQO umpc.
These MakerHawk 8ohm 3 Watt speakers are designed for 3.3volt and 5volt arduino projects but i can confirm that tgey work as general purpose audio project soeakers.I purchased three pairs of 8ohm 3 Watt speakers on amazon fro three different manufacturers in the hopes of choosing a pair to add to my OQO model 02 umpc.I decided to purchase 8ohm speakers since they require less power and because the onboard soundcard of my umpc is designed to drive a single paper thin piezo speaker.I made a playlist on tge Winamp audio player program on my Windows XP Pro SP3 OQO model02 umpc with electronic genre music which has a wide range of both high and low frequencies. I turned the volume all the way up and bypassed the onboard OQO model 02's single paper thin quarter sized piezo speaker located on the plastic cooling fan housing which reproduces nothing but higher frequencies and clips very often when crank up tge volume between 60% and 100%. I temporarily touched the leads of all three speakers one at a time during my test. The smallest speaker is oval shaped and has a clear mylar cone. It iss about 10% louder and has improved the bass response from (non existant) to the amount of low frequency production of a smartphone speaker. The smallest speaker is a (no go) for my project. The medium sized speaker has a black wraved fabric cone. It is about 30% louder and the bass response is improved from (non existant) to the amount of low frequency production of a netbook speaker. I atribute the improved bass response to the boxed housing and breathing port. I noticed a lot of cliping on the higher frequencies with this speaker similar to the onboard piezo speaker. The medium speaker is a (no go) for my project. The large MakerHawk soeaker has a textured metal cone and black foam surrounding. When i touched the leads of the large MakerHawk speaker i was amazed at how much volume and low frequencies were being produced from such a tiny speaker. The overall volume is increased by 400% and the bass response is increased from non existant to about the low frequency production of a small keychain bluetooth speaker.I plan to permanently attach two of these speakers to either sude of my OQO umpc. It will now have two front facing speakers which together will produce many times more volume with some much wanted low frequency bass response. The plastic boxed housing is very sturdy and improves the low frequencies. There is no breathing port on the boxed housing which i might add by using a 1/8 of an inch drill bit.The leads are nice and thick which is always a plus for sound transfer. The two onboard screw hole brackets allow for secure mounting even though i only need one of them. They also look beautiful with their shiny textured metal cones. I have always liked the look of metal cones vs. clear mylar, black paper, or weaved fabric cones. You will love adding them to your mods and projects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Concept.. Poor Build Quality
Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2023
Nice little units! Just wish there was a little more thought put into the assembly. Not airtight, like they should be and they sound "Boxie" or, in need some sound absorbing material inside the enclosure. They sound pretty good (Paralleled for a 4 ohm load) tied to an 8" enclosure with a 2.1 amp but they could sound much better if I can figure out a way to open the enclosures without destroying them..
